Getting there by bus, train or car !

Traveling by private car:

By far the most convenient way to get to Kanchanaburi from Pattaya is by car. The journey up to the west of Bangkok is now much more straightforward thanks to the new Kanchanaphisek bridge that now joins the southern section of the Route [9] Outer Ring road.

From Pattaya, it is approximately a 280 km journey on fairly good roads to Kanchanaburi. Car sharing can also offset the cost of the fuel providing your mates dip into their pockets and help out!  Taking advantage of the local tourist attractions whilst in the province is much more convenient if you have your own transport.

The directions listed below will not be the shortest route, but it will be the most direct. Following the directions from Pattaya up to the Kanchanaphisek bridge should be fairly clear. However, once across the new bridge, care should be taken as the local road signs can be a little misleading ! As a way of helping in this area, distances between certain points have been given but it must be stressed that these are NOT EXACT as they have been taken from the scaling on numerous maps that were available. So the DISTANCES are intended as a LOOSE GUIDE ONLY !!

It should be noted too that following the directions listed below may also entail TOLL CHARGES as part of the trip will mean traveling on motorways!

3.  Follow on from point 10 below.

From Pattaya:

1.  Take the Rayong highway 36 from Sukhumvit road and after approximately 8km, turn left (north)
     onto highway 7.
2.  Follow highway 7 for approx 35km and then join the motorway for Bangkok at the Chonburi turning.
3.  After around 60 km you will pass the Savamabhumi Airport turning.
4.  Continue a further 6km and turn left (south) onto the No.9 Outer Ring road.
5.  Continue heading south and at approx. 10km, you will pass over Route 3 (Sukhumvit Rd).
6.  The road then swings west and after around 22km you will go across the new Kanchanaphisek
suspension bridge and  the Bang Phli Suk Sawat Expressway (Route 9).
7.  After a further 13km from the bridge you will pass over Route 35 to Samut Sakhon. Do not take
      this turning.
8.   Continue another 8km on the 9 Ring road, then turn left (west) onto Route 338 (4) to Nakhon Pathon.

UPDATE!
Method of transport:

1. By minibus

Those people who have signed up early have a seat reserved on the bus. However, there should be several spare seats available for last minute deciders etc. We will ask that people on the bus contribute to the cost
of hiring the minibus. This cost should be more or less the same as the cost of public transport from Pattaya to/ from Kanchanaburi.

We expect that it should be possible for any late sign-ups/deciders etc. to get a seat on the minibus. However, in the event that this is not possible, we will do our best to ensure that those people get on
the correct air-conditioned regular bus from pattaya to Bangkok/Kanchanaburi.

2. By Public transport
In the event that we have some people who do not have a seat on the minibus, then you will need to travel by baht bus taxi to the Air-Conditioned bus terminal located on North Pattaya Road. A member of the bush mismanagement will try to assist you in this case.

The cost of the transport will be the responsibility of the individual and not the Bush hash. The approximate total cost for a return trip to Kanchanaburi using the regular bus service may be around 450 baht each.

There will be a change over in Bangkok therefore two buses are required for the trip. From pattaya, the buses depart every hour and from Bangkok, every 20 minutes. Travel time is approximately 5 hours
(more or less the same as traveling by private car).

Once in Kachanaburi, you will probably need to hire a baht bus taxi to get
you to your hotel or resort.
