Run Story By:
GI Joe

Time to get on the bus! It's a longer than usual ride. I get comfortable and talk to fellow Hashers. We arrive at Ping Din Dam Reservoir. I've been here before when The Tickler laid a run for the Jungle Hash. The circle is called and The Tickler comes out looking like a coal miner. He's also carrying a two foot machete. I think that was just for show. He explains the first part of the run is flat and should take 1:30 hours. Paper that direction. The pack takes off with all the front runners racing to be first.

I remember the last time I did this trail and The Tickler tricked me many times. I'm not going to fall for that the second time. Wrong! We came to the first check and I heard an on-on cry. I remember last time that was a long FT so I go to where the trail was before. It's not there. OK I'll save some energy and just jog slowly because I still think it's an FT. It wasn't but I was able to catch up because the Hare outsmarted the rest of the pack. He threw some paper under a barbed wire fence and took the pack in that direction. They returned and everyone was milling around. On-on called down the path but soon the pack lost paper again.

This is the way the first part of the run went. I made it to the water stop and The Tickler was right about the time it would take to do the first leg. I got some refreshments and we were told the second half was about the same running time but hilly. The pack took off on the second half, soon to come to a check. Lynxx and Rusty Ringhole took the right trail but everyone else was fooled by an on-on call and did an FT. Lynxx and Rusty Ringhole should have been in 20 minutes before any of the FRB but they got off paper and ended up shortcutting. The remainder of the pack came in within 30 minutes except Seaman Stains. It seems he was looking at the birdies and lost track of the time. When I got in I was treated to a nice bowl of stew and a cold beer. Well worth all the time on the trail. Thanks to the Hare. You could tell he spent much time out on the trail.

The circle was fun as usual. Weedeater was nominated to be the well deserved Hash Victim. I was told I was the Scribe after about 15 minutes into the circle. I suggest the GMs pick a scribe before the run. It makes it easier on the scribe. One of the things I enjoy about the Bush Circles is everyone that wants to can control the circle and everyone gets to enjoy a seat on the ice. I was trying to take mental notes for the scribe report but I gave up. Just come to the next Bush Run and see what the circle is like.

On-on
