After two of the hares (Sheik bin shagging/ split beaver) almost failing to find their own a-site and the third hare (Odd job) holding a briefing so extended that most runners were worried to loose the day light, we finally take off. It is evident from the start that this is by no means a half-measure run, we haven't run far before we are led into shade and gullies which are welcome in mid afternoon, mid April. Although torrential rain was pouring down the previous day and night the paper is easy to spot and the checks clever. Second half takes off along a field but the temperature has now decreased some and we've been blessed by some overcast. The 1st bit of the second leg is more plain which our screaming calves welcome, but before we know it we are taken up on another very steep hill with some beautiful dry water falls and granite boulders. More clever checks as can be expected from these veteran hares and what more to be expected is that Yellow But contributes absolutely nil to solving the checks leaving myself, Pig stabber, GI Joe and some of the other FRB's to do the hard work while Y.B. is tying his shoe laces, picking his nose or his rectum etc. All in all it was a 14 km run with FRB's in at 2.05 and BWW's not far behind, hats off for the hares who had spared no effort to give us a memorable run and nature experience, the local pharmacies reportedly experienced a sharp rise is sale of counter-pain the following day after numerous beer smelling misfits in strange T-shirts stormed their shops complaining of leg pains… Rusty Ring Hole |
