The day started out overcast as everyone boarded the bus, hopeful of (for once) a cool run. However by the time we reached the A site, situated about 4 klms up the soi past the “hanging red car” off H’way 7, the sun broke through and our hopes were dashed. DIZZY, the GM for the day, called the circle and the Monkey Hash Virgins, namely BIG NOSED BASTARD, RINGWORM, ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING IDEA, ET, LA CUNTSULTANT, BALL SNIFFER, SPAGHETTI HEAD, BULLSHIT, and CAPT.KIRK were called into the circle and welcomed in true Monkey tradition.
The Hares, FESTERING STREAKER and ARE YOU SURE then explained to everyone all we needed to know about the run and then we were off. The 360-degree checks and loops that we experienced in the first part of the run kept everyone busy and most of the pack together in what was, predominantly, open country.
The 2nd check had everyone guessing for quite some time until BIG NOSED BASTARD discovered the very well concealed back check and then we were all off again. The sun was beating down fiercely and managed to drain all accrued energy and alcohol from our bodies. Thus the early drink stop (45-50 mins.) was really appreciated by the hashers.
After resting and recharged with drinks, chocolate bars and fruit, the hares then explained that the 2nd part of the run was a lot longer, but after a 15min. climb up the very tall looking mountain beside us, we would then experience tree cover and cool areas for the majority of the run. All the pack, except BULLSHIT, who unfortunately had succumbed to heat exhaustion, headed on up to begin the 15 min. climb.
For once the hares weren’t lying, it was up, up, up, and still up, where we were able to witness some very nice views over the countryside before descending slowly through wooded trails. Again true to the hare’s word, we were led a long way through a clear running, cool stream complete with waterfalls, which I’m sure was appreciated by most, after the very hot conditions of the 1st part of the run.
Well laid checks were once again keeping the majority of the pack together, before the more open run into a lovely “C” site on the banks of a large lake and under tree cover. Most hashers cooled their inside with iced beer and their outside with a dip in the lake before partaking in the buffet prior to the circle being called. After the circle was closed it was on to the Hash Disco Bus for our journey to the ON ON ON bar, where the hares had provided more food, in the form of pizza for everyone. Thank you hares, for a clever run and an overall enjoyable day.
On On Ballringer
On this day, Big Nosed Bastard closely followed by Pig Pusher Swine Stabber and Bogbrush completed the first half of the run in 55 minutes and the second half in 65 minutes. The water stop lasted approximately 15 minutes.
