[Patrick
"Flying Frog"
Van Den Berghe & Tadpole]
I remember who you used to be
the laughter we shared
and wonder what you have become.
Where are you now,
Where did you go,
When the body is left behind
and the spirit is released to fly?
Perhaps you are the morning bird
singing joyfully at sunrise,
or the butterfly that dances
so carelessly on the breeze
or the rainbow of colors
that brightens a stormy sky
or the fingers of afternoon mist
delicately reaching over the mountains
or the final few rays of the setting sun
lighting up the skies
edging the clouds with a magical glow.
I miss your being at the Hash
but I feel your presence,
In whatever form you choose to take,
however you now choose to be.
Your spirit has become for me
a guardian angel on high
guiding, advising, and watching over me.
I remember you.
You are with me
and I am not afraid.

[Tom
'Sir Airhead' Dragoo]
Snowflake,
I first met Snowflake on the Monday Hash way back
in the summer of '84. The Monday Hash had been running for a few
months, started by the infamous "BJ". The Hash was running
out of his bar, on the street named after him, {where TQ2 is still
located} and the Wild Elephant, another famous Hash Bar - owned
by the Pimp and I, was catering their 25th run. That was my introduction
to Hashing and my first run was 29.
I met Snowflake then and immediately she was a
big hit. She had the ability to get everyone to participate and
have a lot of fun doing it. Her famous hair and big smile started
to be seen at Hashes all over Thailand and then all of Indo-China.
Anytime Hashers gathered, she would be organizing
in her cheerful calm way, with that great big smile and everything
would fall in place. She could party harder than anyone and in
the morning look immaculate and ready to do it again! For those
of you reading this that didn't know her............YOUR LOSS!
Some of her many Hashing accomplishments are:
MISTRESS OF PATTAYA HASH
MISTRESS OF CHIANG MI HASH
MISTRESS OF WOMEN'S DIRT ROAD
MISTRESS OF WOMEN'S BUNNY HASH
...and many more Hashes from Phuket to Phnom Penh.
The hashing world and all of us lost a great friend
and no one can fill the shoes she left behind.
ON-ON FOREVER,
AIRHEAD

She was a good friend in the Hash
and just generally about the place, be it in the Wild Elephant,
TQ or at Bjarne's bars. As keen a Hasher as anyone I knew. She embraced
Hashing with a passion right from her first run in 1985 and I guess
it allowed her to express her fun side. Always smiling and it was
only rarely that I saw her angry (I remember one real blow out in
Soi Post Office when she kicked her Aussie partner out of their
bar near the Wild Elephant for bedding the bar girls!! It was during
the Wild Elephant Happy Hour and provided great entertainment).
Who could forget the South Pattaya Ladies Hash Choir with Pom and
Suay leading the verse; or Pom with Kloster in hand and giant Mexican
hat at Hash Asia '88; or Pom "grazing" on poor Farmer
Nop's mango trees.
She'll be missed by many in Hashing
in Thailand and even further afield. I hope you don't mind me Ccing
this email to a few people who also knew her well and may not yet
know of her sad passing.
I bet the whole crew at the TQ and
in Chiang Mai will be saddened by her passing. She had a wicked
sense of humour and was never afraid to take the piss out of anyone,
regardless of who they were. None of this deferential Thai shit
for our Pom. Even in her early days at the Hash she always wanted
to help out. I suppose there are not too many people left in Pattaya
who will remember her role in getting the Thai girls involved with
Hashing after her first run on Run No 62.
It will be hard to forget the girl
who started the Pattaya Women's Dirt Road Hash and delighted in
her small collection of Pattaya Dirt Road Hash Shirts!! I remember
a terrific photo of a bunch of the Pattaya Hash girls on the ice
in a Pattaya circle with Bob Blatch obviously in charge. If you
look closely you can see one of the blokes laid out on the ice with
all the girls sitting on top of him (maybe Clive) and there is Pom,
with one of her huge smiles, sitting on top of the lot. I guess
that's how she saw the Hash and its not a bad way to remember her.
Happy and smiling, at the Hash and on top!
While I'm sure Andy mourns her passing,
hopefully he will have lots of happy memories to see him through
the tough times.
Best wishes to you all, and...
On on Pom! On on forever

[Johhny
"Charlie Manson"
Larson]
Redundant Seaman has lost his bellowed wife, Pattaya
Hash has lost a true hasher and Thailand has lost a great personality!
In the early morning 18 of August Snowflake passed away after
a long battle of the terrible disease cancer. Snowflake joined
PH3 in a very early stage on run No: 62 and she managed to do
279 runs with the pack. Even when she was very ill, she came to
the Hash and entertained all of us - she made her last run No:1061.
Snowflake was know amongst all Hashers
in Thailand and world wide as a true friend with a big smile on
her face and her long hair blowing in the wind. When ever she came
to the Hash she always brought her pets with her and a picnic bag,
which was loaded with either wine, food and of course a big joint.
She was an easy going person who really liked to rock’n roll
and enjoyed every minute of her time. She was also one of the founding
mothers of Honey Bonny Run, wish I had the pleasure to join onetime
in Chiang Mai.
I looked over Jordan River, and
what did I see? Coming for to carry me home. A band of angels coming
after me coming for to carry me home. If you get there, before I
do. coming for to carry me home. Tell all my friends I’ll
be coming too. Coming for to carry me home.
Rest in peace in Hash Heaven, I/we will always miss
you!

I was deeply saddened to read about the untimely death of Snowflake
who I have met on numerous occasions on my sorties to LOS, she
was a wonderful woman. I have not seen her since the Bunny Hash
at Nash Hash last year. At least she has died with the knowledge
that Chiang Mai won the vote.
Please pass on my deepest condolences to all concerned.

"Who's that girl?" That was what I said the first
time I saw Pom on the Pattaya Hash, in 1986. That smile and gorgeous
long, black hair. Hard to forget. I remember one hash mismanagement
meeting in The Nyhaven, out in the garden. We were sitting at the
round table shooting shit. Airhead was over at the main building.
"Hey guys, over here. Pom and I are sorting out the real shit!"
They probably were. She was responsible for bringing many hashers
from Changmai and Bangkok. This she did not only when she was alive,
but sadly even when she had passed away. This was obvious by the
turnout at her funeral. "Who's that girl?" POM.
On On,

I meet her twice, said a courteous
"hi, how ya doin' " and on both occasions got
on with the task-in-hand of limiting all the cut, falls and scrapes
from the pending run and the shortcuts. I never knew Snowflake well,
if at all. My admiration for Snowflake came from her Hash family
after she past away, and then and only then, did all her accomplishments
which are vast in Hash terms, come to light. So why am I writing
this? I didn't want to, why should I? - because I read something
today that made me suddenly think of her and I felt it important
enough to share it - so here goes... An important 'social scientist'
said after being in Thailand for 15 years: 'I shall leave without
having developed a single deep Thai friendship
because social structure doesn't allow for this to happen'.
Then I read an old Thai proverb: ''A friend
to eat with is easily found, a friend to die with is hard to find'.
I suddenly found myself thinking of Snowflake, over 200 people attended
Snowflakes funeral and I had the feeling that most people there
were her 'deep' friends.
On!-On! Snowflake

[Freddy 'Fini the Faggot']
She was the Ambassador of Thailand for HASHING along the country, always laughing and the optimist. She started long time ago and when I met her for the first time she made me laugh and feel comfortable. Everywhere I saw her we had so much fun together always open for jokes and have good fun!!! I think I was the last Hasher sitting next to her and holding her so tiny hand, and still in her last moments she was joking and asking Andy for her hashing shoes because Fini was picking her up to go running. Why must always the good-ones go first? Snowflake you will be ALWAYS in my heart wherever I go, maybe we see each other in a different life.
